Getting started

This takes about five minutes. Nothing changes on your storefront until you save.

Shopify keeps apps switched off in your theme until you turn them on. This is the one step outside the app, and you only do it once.

  1. Open the app. The Home page shows App embed: Off.
  2. Choose Turn on app embed. Your theme editor opens with the switch already turned on.
  3. Press Save in the theme editor.

Back in the app, Home now shows App embed: Active. If it still says Off, choose Refresh.

  1. Go to Variant images in the app menu and choose Create gallery, or pick a product from the list.
  2. The editor opens on the option that changes the photos, usually Color. Each color has its own row.
  3. Choose Match by photo name. Photos whose names or descriptions mention a color are placed in that color’s row for you.
  4. Check each row. Use + on a row to add or remove photos.
  5. Press Save in the bar at the top of the screen.

The preview on the right shows what shoppers will see. Click a color there to check it.

Open the product on your store and pick each color. The gallery should show only that color’s photos. View in store at the top of the editor opens the product for you.

If the gallery still shows every photo, see Troubleshooting.

  • Make the option buttons into swatches: Swatches.
  • Set up the rest of your catalog quickly: Bulk setup.
